A three generation farm

Don Wirz

Don Wirz

Founder

Don grew up on a dairy farm that began growing potatoes in 1960. He worked at this farm alongside his guardian until his guardian’s retirement in 1964. Don then carried on farming the potatoes on his own, and grew strictly seed potatoes, joining the Wisconsin Seed Potato Certification Program.

In 1964 he married his wife Nicky and their combined dedication grew Wirz Inc. into the established Foundation and Certified Seed Potato Farm it is today.

Don served in the U.S. Air Force from 1956-1960 before returning home to continue farming.

Together, their grit to grow a successful crop year in and year out while maintaining a loyal customer base has ensured the farm’s success for 3 generations.

Nicky was instrumental in maintaining all bookwork throughout the farm’s growth and had a passion for ensuring a quality product for her customers.
